Newborn Gift |
| Originally the newborn gift was given after the birth and when the newborn was presented to society. If the family was religious, the gift usually coincided with the baptism. Years ago mothers were in confinement for a month with their newborn and a baby shower was an excellent way to keep the mother and newborn company, while providing a practical baby gift to the family.
