Christening Bonnets |
Hankie Bonnets |
| The word Bonnet derives from the Old French word bonet, which means the "material from which hats are made". Today the hankie bonnets worn by both boys and girls are beautifully decorated with lace, embroidery and ribbons. Handkerchief or hankie (sometimes spelled hanky) bonnets are very popular today because they becomes a part of the child's life and his/her family traditions. After the ceremony hankie bonnets are stored for the girl when she becomes a bride or for the boys fiancé to use in their wedding bouquet as "something old". We have collected five different versions of the "Hankie Bonnet Poem" and hope you will take a few moments to enjoy them. |
